Demi Lovato is celebrating more than five years sober, and she’s opening up to audiences by sharing what finally made her hit rock bottom. While speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, Demi Lovato discussed the last straw that caused her to willingly accept treatment and change her life. Lovato struggled for many years after getting her start in Hollywood as a child actress.
She had battled drug and alcohol addiction and dealt with underlying mental health issues. Demi was eventually diagnosed as bi-polar, but she stated that when she had reached a point that her family didn’t want her around her little sister Madison De La Garza, she knew she needed help. It was then she knew that she had truly hit rock bottom, and was ready to accept help.
The type of approach Demi Lovato’s family used to help her address her issues is considered tough love. In some cases, it works, but it isn’t a fail-proof method.
For Demi, the effort paid off as she quickly realized that she needed to make changes so that she could be her best self and an example to her sister.

Demi Lovato has worked hard on her sobriety and her efforts have paid off. Her career is at a high point as she recently released her new album “Tell Me You Love Me.’ Earlier in September, she received the Spirit of Sobriety award from the Brent Shapiro Foundation.
Just because Demi obtained sobriety doesn’t mean the battle is over as Demi has discussed that she attends Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings, regularly takes her medication for bipolar disorder, lives a healthy style to stay in shape, and meets with a therapist twice a week.
Demi has described her sobriety as a battle she fights on a daily basis, but one that is not only worth it but ultimately saved her life.
Demi made it clear that she has worked hard to stay sober and has used her public platform to spread awareness of the dangers of drug and alcohol addiction.
There are many young girls who look up to Demi and by speaking out on important issues such as mental health and addiction, she has proved that she has a powerful message that the future generation is listening to. Demi has become a good role model for all girls, including her younger sister.
