We have learned that unfortunately, the singer did not have a choice but to cancel her huge concert at London’s O2 arena today no more than 45 minutes before it was scheduled to start! Demi Lovato explained to her disappointed fans who had been waiting for hours that she had gotten sick suddenly and it was impossible for her to go on stage and sing.
Demi took to Twitter to inform everyone that her vocal cords became super swollen, so much so that performing could have actually damaged her voice indefinitely.
Not to mention that it could have led to even more concerts being canceled.
One insider revealed that her loyal fans who had been waiting for the concert for many hours only learned about the cancellation 45 minutes before Lovato was supposed to go on.
Devastated, many of them were crying in the streets as they left the venue.
‘I write this through tears of frustration and sadness that I have to postpone my concert in London at the O2 tonight due to being very sick and with swollen vocal chords that were examined by an ENT (dr.). I go on tonight and injure my vocal chords anymore I could potentially have to cancel the rest of my tour. I am so so sorry to disappoint my fans in London that have traveled hours to be here by plane or by car, and to all the fans that got these tickets for their birthday, holiday or another special occasion. It really breaks my heart to let you down,’ she tweeted, explaining the situation and apologizing sincerely.
Lovato also posted a story video on Insta, and in her raspy voice, she said: ‘Hey guys, I cannot do the show tonight because I have no voice, and I always wanted to play the O2 so I am really upset and I am really sad to let my fans down because I know some of you traveled hours and some of you flew to see the show. But, I really cannot go on, and I am really sorry.’
While most fans were disappointed but understanding of the situation, some were furious that they learned so late about the cancellation.
‘It’s not that fact you are sick no one can help that. We just want to know why only 40 mins before the show is supposed to start and doors open? Seeing everybody crying and gutted in the arena at the doors after wasting all of their money to get here because it was such late notice,’ one fan demanded to know on Twitter, and many others felt the same.
‘45 minutes before the doors open? People have done so much to make sure they are there for this evening, and you could’ve let everybody know a lot sooner than just 45 minutes before!’
Demi responded: ‘Just know I feel your frustration and I would not do this unless I absolutely had to. For everyone who bought a ticket to tonight’s show, I will see you for the rescheduled date on June 25th after Madrid and Rock in Rio. Thank you for understanding. I love you.’
