Thankfully, Cynthia Bailey does not have cancer. The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star is opening up about the scare that occurred when she found a lump on her back.
On March 29, the former model wrote on her Instagram: “Early morning [doctor’s] appointment today. Had a little health scare. Thankfully I’m ok.”
She didn’t get into any details; however, she received many well wishes from fans.
One fan wrote: “God bless you cynthia whatever you’re going through god will get u thru it.”
Another said: “You are my favorite housewife. Get better please.”
It turns out that Ms. Bailey was diagnosed with lymphoma.
The 51-year-old told the Daily Dish: “I noticed a slight raised lump on my back near my left shoulder blade about 2 months ago. At first I thought I had been bitten by something, or it was just back fat. A couple of weeks later, I noticed that it was still there and seemed to be growing. I went to the doctor, and was told that it was lymphoma, a fatty tumor.”
She immediately received surgery and was told that it’s benign.
In the interview, Cynthia explained: “Surgery went well, however it went much longer than expected because the tumor was embedded very deeply in my back and partially under a muscle. It was also larger than expected. In the end, thankfully all the lymphoma was removed successfully.”
That was a very close call for the divorced housewife.
She has had medical trouble before. The reality star underwent surgery for fibroids on an episode of the Bravo show.
Right now, the mother of one is recovering at Lake Bailey. She thanked her friends, family, and fans for the well wishes.
The season of “RHOA” has just wrapped but it is still possible that Bailey will discuss it on the next installment.
