Cuba Gooding Junior Arraigned On New Sexual Misconduct Charges
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Cuba Gooding Junior is now looking at a criminal case involving charges from three different women. Following his arrest back in June, Cuba's criminal case has continued to grow as women keep on coming out of the woodwork with their own stories.
This past Thursday, Cuba Gooding Junior walked into the court to face more charges in his New York City sex abuse case. Two more women came forward with allegations that he groped them at a Manhattan nightlife spot.
Two weeks ago, Cuba pled not guilty to charges from a second accuser, and now, he's pleading not guilty to an updated indictment that includes all the three incidents. Cuba's attornies claim he can't be charged with any of these crimes because the paperwork doesn't specify what he's been accused of doing.
Gooding Junior's lawyers were also displeased that the 51-year-old actor was never invited to testify before the court, in addition to the fact prosecutors failed to show video evidence of the purported assaults. Mark Heller, the actor's attorney, explained that he and his client believed the suit was purely out of "malicious prosecution."
Heller reportedly compared the new charges to a former New York judge's claim that prosecutors would try to persuade a grand jury to "indict a ham sandwich." In addition to the aforementioned accusations, there have been other women who claim the actor has "behaved inappropriately" to them.
Furthermore, the legal drama is insidious, as many of the stories, allegations, and even photographs, have been leaked to celebrity gossip websites, a fact the judge, Curtis Farber, warned of. Jenna Long, the Assistant District Attorney, stated that the videos she shared with Gooding's lawyer ended up on gossip websites just one day later, however, Cuba and his attorney deny leaking the tapes.
Earlier this week, it was reported by multiple outlets that a respected New York City detective was stripped of his badge and gun due to leaking the actor's mugshot. Currently, the details regarding the newest accusations are not known with accuracy.
The very first accusation was in relation to an incident that purportedly occurred near Times Square at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge. Additionally, on the 15th of October, Gooding was accused of pinching a waitress' backside at TAO downtown the year prior.
