Country singer Kylie Rae Harris has died at the age of 30 after being involved in a car crash. The rising star was in one of three cars involved in a terrible accident in New Mexico on Wednesday.
Harris' publicist shared the sad news with Billboard magazine, Thursday evening.
"We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night. We have no further details to share and ask for privacy for her family at this time. Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music. The best tribute to her unmatched enthusiasm for both is to spread as much love as you can today and listen to music that fully inspires you," the statement read.
The singer was in New Mexico to play a set at Big Barn Dance in Taos on Thursday night. Ironically hours before the fatal car crash, Harris posted videos to her Instagram Stories recalling an accident she was involved in as a child with her father and sister.
"It might sound really crazy, but there was this time, it was something that we always talked about with my dad and my sister. I was in the backseat asleep, and I was like 10 or 12, and we hit something really hard. I popped up my head and was like, 'What was that?' and my dad said, 'Cow guard!'" she shared in one message.
The next story showed the singer reminiscing about grief and reflecting further on the accident she endured as a child.
"But really he had hit a cow. I know that's very depressing, but just the fact that when I was on my trek into the mountains, I just started crying and I was sad, and all of a sudden, these cows just appeared out of nowhere. We grieve in different ways," the singer finished.
Kylie Rae Harris was starting to make a name for herself on the country music scene before her tragic death . She had released two albums, and those in the country music world were starting to take notice.
Her 6-year-old daughter, Corbie survives the rising star. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses, as well as to begin a college fund for Corbie.
