It has been a month since Counting On star Joy-Anna Duggar gave birth to her first child, Gideon Martyn Forsyth, and the family has already posted a photo showing off her post-baby body. After fans got a glimpse of her difficult childbirth, Duggar has posted photos of herself holding baby Gideon with her husband Austin Forsyth by her side, so we haven’t had a chance to see how her body is recovering from her pregnancy and emergency C-section.
But now it looks like the 20-year-old is doing well and her figure looks wonderful. She appears to be making great strides toward recovering, even though healing does take time.
The family also posted a pic from last year at this time, showing just how fast things change when a Duggar starts courting. In the photo, Duggar and Forsyth pose with her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, and they added a caption about what a difference a year makes.
“This time last year, these two were engaged, and we started wedding planning! Now, they are happily married with a precious son! #SoBlessed” wrote Michelle.
Fans responded with messages of love, support, and congratulations for the young couple and their new baby, writing that they were thrilled for them and pointed out how happy everyone looked.
Joy-Anna is the first new mom in the family’s 2018 baby boom, with her sister Jinger and sister-in-law Kendra soon to follow since they are both expecting their first babies this summer.
The new mom says she has gotten a lot of good advice about parenthood from her family and she looks up to her sisters Jill and Jessa when it comes to raising a boy.
Joy-Anna says that some of the best advice she got during her pregnancy was to rest before the baby arrived because once he is here, there is no rest until he gets on schedule. Jinger, who is due in July, agrees that you shouldn’t feel bad about needing rest in the middle of the day, and says her sisters have helped her deal with her morning sickness.
Kendra, who is due in June, says that being pregnant at the same time as her sisters-in-law has been helpful. She adds that being able to talk to each other about the changes their bodies are going through has been a unique experience, and it has been nice to be able to encourage each other.
The Duggar sisters are available for more than just advice, though. When Joy-Anna faced a difficult labor that resulted in rushing her to the hospital, her sister Jill was by her side, with training in midwifery.
During the recent Counting On special about Gideon’s birth, fans could see Jill checking on Joy-Anna’s vitals and the baby’s heart rate. The mom-of-two has over two years of midwifery training with over 3,000 hours under her belt.
Gideon was breech, and after laboring for 20 hours, the family took Joy-Anna Duggar to the hospital, so doctors could deliver him via C-section. New episodes of Counting On air Monday nights on TLC.
