Counting On star Josiah Duggar married Lauren Swanson back in June, but according to a new report, his family is still in touch with his ex-girlfriend, Marjorie Jackson. Josiah is the only Duggar sibling so far to have a courtship that didn’t end in marriage, so the family doesn’t have much experience in dealing with exes.
In recent weeks, Josiah’s sister Jinger and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, have been complimenting Jackson online. When she posted a pic of her entire family, Jinger wrote, “Awww beautiful!” and added a heart emoji. Jackson then responded with a message of thanks.

A thoughtful birthday gift from my lovely wife: handwritten calligraphy of the words “Og mit liv” for my office. What’s the significance of these words? When Peter Torjesen, a young Norwegian man, was 17 years old, he was challenged to financially support gospel missions. At a church service, he opened his wallet and placed all of its contents into the offering. After a brief moment of reflection, he placed something else into the offering: a piece of paper with the words written upon it, “Og mit liv” (“And my life”). Young Peter would go on to give his life on the foreign mission field in China. A valuable daily reminder that to live is Christ and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21). || Calligraphy by @marjorie.e.jackson ||
Vuolo has also shown Jackson love on social media. When Jinger presented him with a birthday gift that featured Jackson’s calligraphy, he credited Josiah’s ex and wrote how “thoughtful” the gift was. Jackson commented on the post by writing, “Happy birthday.”
According to Radar Online, neither Jackson or Josiah Duggar has ever publicly explained the reason their courtship ended. But, they did split around the same time that Josiah’s older brother Josh was involved in his molestation and cheating scandal.
Since Jackson escaped life as a Duggar-to-be, she has been attending college, wearing jeans, writing books, and traveling.
Jackson has written and illustrated two books since she split from Josiah in 2015. Her first book was titled Greatest Book You’ve Never Read, which appears to be her sales pitch for reading the Bible. Her second book was Devoted: A Girl’s 31-Day Guide to Good Living with a Great God.
The book was for teenage girls and featured coloring pages that Jackson drew herself. She also a bit of merch that goes along with the book — Devoted t-shirts.
In school, Jackson is studying graphic design. She currently attends John Brown University, which is a private liberal arts college. And, in her published work, she has been able to show off her drawing and calligraphy skills.
Jackson has also taken a few vacations, including trips to New York and Israel. She has been documenting her life on Instagram, which has a Christian lifestyle blog vibe. She has shown off her featured school work, published books, and travels. And, Marjorie Jackson has been doing it all while drinking Oreo milkshakes and wearing pants.
It’s amazing how different life can be when you don’t get married as a young teenager and then have a baby nine months later.
