Earlier this month Counting On star Josiah Duggar announced his engagement to Lauren Swanson, and the news has caused many fans to ask questions about Duggar’s first girlfriend, Marjorie Jackson. Since Josiah is the only Duggar of his generation to have a courtship that didn’t end in marriage, it was a big deal when he and Jackson ended their relationship instead of walking down the aisle back in 2015. With her missed opportunity to be part of the famous Duggar family, is it possible Jackson is regretting her and Josiah’s breakup?
According to In Touch Weekly, when Duggar and Jackson ended their courtship, they never gave a reason for the split except for bad timing and the fact that continuing their courtship wasn’t God’s will. But, since it happened right after the Josh Duggar molestation and cheating scandals broke, there is speculation that the controversy caused Jackson to opt-out of being part of such a public, drama-filled family.
I feel like the most blessed guy on earth ?… Lauren said YES! God definitely opened our eyes in his perfect timing to show us how we complete each other. The more time I spend with Lauren the more I realize how I can't live without her. There's no one else I'd rather spend my days and grow old with! #engaged #weddingplanningbegins
Now, if you take a look at Jackson’s Instagram account, it seems she has no regrets about not being another Duggar bride. Instead, she is going to college, writing books, and living a happy life full of travel and adventure.
Unlike the women in the Duggar family, Jackson is continuing her education and attending John Brown University, a private liberal arts college, where she is studying graphic design.
She recently displayed her creative talents in her book for teenage girls, Devoted: A Girl’s 31-Day Guide to Good Living With A Great God, with the workbook featuring coloring pages with modern, whimsical designs that Jackson drew herself.
Jackson also appears to have taken some fun vacations, including trips to Israel and New York, and she has also taken the time to swim with Dolphins.
Her Instagram page has a teenage, Christian lifestyle blog vibe that is allowing Jackson to build her own brand while sharing her own beliefs and having a lot of fun.
Of course, it appears Jackson does have the desire for marriage and motherhood, but doing all of that at 17-years-old just didn’t seem to work for her.
Jackson is now 20, and her school is featuring her online with her own student spotlight video. Plus, she is sharing pictures of herself enjoying Oreo-topped milkshakes, eating macarons, and wearing pants.
She doesn’t appear to be missing Josiah Duggar or the Duggar family at all. New episodes of Counting On will air later this summer.
