Counting On fans know that Jinger Duggar is one of the biggest rebels in the family, and when her brothers visited her in Texas earlier this week, it looked like she was encouraging them to throw away the Duggar rulebook. Could Jinger be a bad influence on her siblings?
It’s no secret that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar love a good thrift store deal. When you are raising 19 kids, you have to spend your money wisely, and they passed on that thrifty mindset to their children. During a recent Counting On episode, Jessa and Ben, Kendra and Joseph, and Lauren and Josiah all went shopping for date night outfits for each other — and they bought everything at a local thrift store.
But, when Jinger’s brothers visited her in Laredo, Texas, where she lives with her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, and their daughter Felicity, she decided that they needed to treat themselves. The 24-year-old took a selfie with three of her younger brothers at the Laredo Outlets, and they were carrying bags from Old Navy!
She also posted a pic of her siblings walking in front of an H&M, so it is possible that they splurged there, too.
According to OK! Magazine, fans were excited to see the Duggar kids treat themselves to something new. One fan wrote, “choices were made for you growing up, and now you can make your own.”
The visit was also Jinger’s brothers’ first chance to meet their 2-month-old niece, and the new mom posted a pic of Jedidiah and “Lissy” meeting for the first time.
But, some fans weren’t happy with Jinger giving her daughter a nickname. It seems like no matter what the Duggars do, there is always someone who will find a reason to bash them. And, this criticism is definitely on the more ridiculous side.
After Vuolo posted a video of Jinger pushing Felicity in a stroller and captioned it, “Lissy took a stroll on the River Walk today,” fans came out of the woodwork to criticize Baby Vuolo’s nickname.
“The kid has a name, use it,” one Instagram user wrote. “She might get confused when she’s older.” Another added, “It’s the type of nickname that would get kids bullied when they’re older.”
Fans love to critique Jeremy Vuolo and Jinger Duggar’s parenting skills, and in just two months they have made negative comments about Felicity being too close to a computer screen, a headband that could be a “suffocation hazard,” and baby acne.
Honestly, it is getting out of hand, and it is difficult to take these comments seriously.
New episodes of Counting On air Monday nights on Bravo.
