Season seven of Counting On ended just a couple of months ago, but fans will have a lot of catching up to do with the Duggar family when season eight premieres later this summer. With 19 kids in the family, a lot can happen in just a few weeks, and there have definitely been some changes since we last saw the Duggars on TV.
Counting On focuses on the lives of the older Duggar kids and their spouses, but there are two couples that probably won’t make an appearance in season eight – Josh and Anna Duggar and Jill and Derick Dillard.
Anna has come back to social media after a nearly three-year hiatus following Josh’s molestation and cheating scandals, and she has been sharing photos of the couples’ five children as they play around the house and travel to places like Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas.
Friday we traveled 436 miles to reach Waco and had a wonderful visit at the Silos! Our kids had fun playing corn toss with dad, while mom went shopping! A group of us had an amazing lunch at Magnolia Table. After lunch was finished, Mason was ready for a nap and mom was ready for coffee (a mom’s nap in cup!). Thanks Chip & Joanna for your investment in Waco… our family made many special memories! #Waco
However, according to In Touch Weekly, sources claim that behind the scenes Anna is “miserable” in her marriage, but fans aren’t likely to get a glimpse of any of that.
The same thing goes for Jill and Derick. Ever since TLC fired Derick for his transphobic Twitter rants, and then Jill quit the show, the couple has continued to stir up controversy with their social media posts, but we won’t see any of that on Counting On, either.

What we can expect are more babies and another wedding. Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell are welcoming a son in June, and Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo have a baby girl on the way in July. Plus, Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth just welcomed baby Gideon in February.
On top of the new babies, the Duggar family will also get larger thanks to another wedding. Back in January, Josiah Duggar started dating Lauren Swanson, and in March the couple got engaged. Now, they are planning their wedding which – according to their registry – is scheduled to take place on December 31st.
We are also going to get the chance to check in with 28-year-old twins Jana and John David, who are both still single and looking for love. Since they are both unmarried, they can’t be on social media, per Duggar family rules, so fans rarely get to see what’s going on in the lives of these two.
Jana, also known as the Cinderella Duggar, continues to focus on her garden (which her sister Jessa calls a “work of art”) while rumors run wild about who she could possibly be courting. Meanwhile, John David is also the center of dating rumors, and there is some speculation that we will meet his special woman in the upcoming season.
The eighth season of Counting On premieres July 30th on TLC.
