Christopher Meloni will reprise his role as Elliot Stabler on the long-running NBC series Law & Order: SVU before launching his own spin-off and fans are thrilled. At 59-years-old, Christopher has enjoyed a long career in television and is one of the most recognized faces in the industry. He played Detective Stabler for 12 seasons and left the series in 2011 and though the show went on (Mariska Hargitay is amazing as Captain Olivia Benson) there was simply no replacing Meloni. The show has evolved and has a wonderful cast, but fans are beyond ecstatic that after nine years, Elliot Stabler is returning.
Christopher Meloni will only appear in one episode when the show returns for its 22nd season, and filming hasn’t begun yet due to Hollywood shutting down for the pandemic. Likewise, the name of Christopher Meloni’s new spin-off series hasn’t been announced, yet, but it is known he will be the head of the New York Police Department’s organized crime division.
A source spoke to Star magazine for their upcoming June 8, 2020, issue and discussed the subject of Christopher Meloni returning to NBC’s Law & Order: SVU with Mariska Hargitay.
“The entire cast is so excited to have Chris back, but nobody’s as happy as Mariska. They can’t film yet because of the Coronavirus bu Chris and Mariska are talking through the episode, and the cast is having meeting on Zoom. Fans will have to sit tight!”
