On Tuesday, some social media trolls mocked Chelsea Clinton, comparing her to Howdy Doody. However, instead of getting offended, the daughter of Hillary Clinton clapped back in a very diplomatic manner.
A Twitter user named Richard Rothchild posted a pic of Chelsea from an interview, in which the face of the marionette was edited in to cover her own.
Not too long after, the former first daughter took to the same platform to respond to the comparison, and actually, thank her haters for it.
‘Thanks to Richard and all the people on @Twitter who have compared me to Howdy Doody. I now know a little about him, including that he stood up to bullies and believed in being kind to animals. I am always happy to be on the side of allyship and kindness. Thanks again!’ Chelsea tweeted, ignoring the fact that the haters compared her to Howdy Doody based on physical and not personality traits.

To yet another since-deleted post, Chelsea replied: ‘Hi Lee! Your prerogative to be offended on Howdy Doody’s behalf. I like to think that the people and marionettes, including Howdy Doody, who stand against bullies and who stand for kindness will always find each other. Wishing you and yours a lovely evening.’
But while her reaction to the hate was definitely not what the bullies expected, others still joined in.
One compared her looks to the character Donkey, from Shrek.
‘I agree, you look nothing like Howdy Doody. You’re spot-on twin for donkey though.’
Chelsea had a witty response to this hater as well.
‘Hi DeplorableDays! I adore donkeys. They are fierce, strong and determined. Thank you for the compliment. Have a great night!’ she tweeted.
