For just two seasons, Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford played alongside each other in the cop-drama, Lethal Weapon, inspired by the classic movie starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. And despite their on-screen chemistry, the pair didn’t get along at all on the set.
After their conflict spilled over into the social media world, it became self-evident that something was seriously wrong with the pair’s relationship. Additionally, Wayans posted a picture on Instagram of a sticker of Clayne in the TV studio parking lot.
The sticker was an image of Clayne and it said underneath it that he was a nightmare to work with.
Supposedly, Clayne had a reputation as being “an emotional terrorist” on set and would strike fear into the hearts of others. However, that dilemma is over now, as producers fired Crawford and replaced him with American Pie alum, Sean William Scott.
According to reports, the situation on the set became so hairy that security guards had to be present to stop occasional eruptions into violence as cast members fought with one another.
Even though nobody from the studio spoke on the matter publicly, a tape released by Variety features Damon and Clayne fighting. You can hear the audio recording above.
Following his firing from the series, Crawford released a statement on his Instagram account where he apologized for his behavior and stated that he held himself as well as others to standards of “excellence.”
However, other cast and crew members think his behavior was less than excellent. One source close to the production stated that, when filming a scene near a pool, Clayne screamed and yelled “f*ck” because of the noise that children made at a nearby pool.
His behavior was so unprofessional that one of the assistant directors walked off the set and resigned right there. There’s a silver lining to this story, except, mostly for Sean William Scott. It marks the first time that Sean will star as a major character in a television series.
