According to a report from Page Six, Charlamagne Tha God wanted to give Lauren London, the girlfriend of Nipsey Hussle her very own special gift following the rapper’s death back in the final days of March. The host of The Breakfast Club gave her two pieces of jewelry meant to portray the star’s face, designed by the artist, Greg Yuna.
Speaking with reporters from Hype Beast, Yuna said that he wanted to make a piece in the very same style anyway, but the fact it wound up being for a much bigger purpose made the design all the more important to him.
Yuna explained to reporters the design of the earrings, stating that he wanted the portrait to be both “suitable” as well as “iconic.” According to Greg, he had the piece highly detailed and the design includes all of his tattoos as well.
Mr. Yuna told reporters that the symbolism on the pieces were representations of everything he fought for during his fulfilled but short life. Yuna in reference to his real name, Ermias, said Nipsey’s name means, “God will rise,”
Ermias Asghedom, most famous as Nipsey Hussle, was killed on the 31st of March after he was shot several times outside of his clothing store at the age of 33-years-old by a man named Eric Holder, 29, Reportedly, Eric and Nipsey had been in an argument over some personal matter.
On the 11th of April, Nipsey was laid to rest after a massive memorial at the Staples Center in LA, attended by many people. However, the scene quickly turned violent and the police had to get involved.
Ever since Hussle died, social media has been filled with memes and other posts in commemoration of the rapper, who only had one major label album at the time of his death. Ermias has been described by people in the black and hip-hop community as a role model and father figure to kids from disenfranchised communities.
Nipsey left behind his girlfriend, Lauren London, with whom he shared one young child. Lauren is known for her acting and modeling career.
