As fans remember, Carrie Underwood suffered a horrible freak accident that left her with no less than fifty stitches on her face! That being said, the star was apparently terrified by the extent of the injury for more than one reason! Apparently, the singer and actress had trouble singing after her hard fall.
One year ago at this time, Carrie was taking a break from her public life so that she could recover.
But as she was healing after the accident, she also recorded her newest album appropriately titled Cry Pretty, and it was not without frustration and fears.
Now, during an interview for Vulture, Carrie, who’s pregnant with her and hubby Mike Fisher’s second child, got into more detail about how the whole thing affected her both physically and mentally.
Carrie remembered that when she first came back to the recording studio, it was impossible for her to actually sing because of the stitches.
‘I felt like the differences were in my head more than they were in anyone else’s that would listen to what I was doing. I’d wanted to be in the studio sooner than I was, recording these songs, but I had stitches inside my mouth and outside my mouth. It was physically impossible.’
Looking back, the unfortunate experience was like a ‘mind game.’
Carrie confessed she would wonder ‘Do I sound the same? Is my diction even the same? Does my mouth move the same as before?’’ all the time.
But now, she’s accepted that her vocal cords can change for many multiple reasons.
‘Things change, like you getting older; your muscles change. I kind of expect I am not always going to sound like I am 22 coming off of American Idol. Hopefully, I get better,’ she said.
