Camila Cabello’s career has shot into the stratosphere following the release of her massively successful album. And she’s also embarking on a tour with country-turned-pop star, Taylor Swift. However, sometimes things get to her. The pressure of having music out into the world is immense.
And while the stresses of having such a demanding career certainly bother her at times, Cabello admitted she has a mother who loves her, one that doesn’t care if her new songs are a hit or not.
It’s difficult for Camila to manage sometimes, because, according to the Fifth Harmony alum, she suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder.
“(Obsessive Compulsive-Disorder) is weird. I laugh about it now, everybody has different ways of handling stress,” the singer stated.
According to Cabello, she frequently thinks about the same thing over and over again, even after coming to a resolution. Paranoia and anxiety kick in when she begins to think that something bad will happen unless she continues to think about it.
At first, she didn’t even know she had the condition. It was merely her personality, a way of living life, something that she assumed everyone else had and dealt with.
However, she learned she was wrong, but these days, it’s all for the better because of preventative knowledge. Cabello sometimes looks to her mother, “I’ll ask my mom a question for the fourth time, and she’ll be like, ‘That’s OCD. You’ve got to let it go.'”
And in terms of her perspective on music and business, Camila said it’s never been about money. It’s about self-expression and making tracks she loves.
The idea of looking to make a lot of money from music is “so cringey” to Camila. Her goal is to make enough for her and her family to live comfortably. That’s all.
