BTS Show Full Support To The Black Lives Matter Movement - 'We All Have The Right To Be Respected!'
The Korean boy group has joined the long list of celebrities showing full support to the Black Lives Matter movement amid fierce protests all over the world. BTS undeniably has massive social and international influence and has been for a long time, which is why the members standing in solidarity with all the victims of police brutality and racism in general was only a matter of time.
That being said, on the group’s official Twitter account, a bilingual message, in both Korean and English was posted today, reading in part: ‘You, I and we all have the right to be respected.’
‘We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have a right to be respected. We will stand together,’ the English second half of the tweet reads in full.
Furthermore, making their stance as clear as possible, the boys also included the Black Lives Matter hashtag at the end.
BTS is well known for their impressive humanitarian campaigns and personal donations to worthy causes as well as inspiring their ARMY to start such projects of their own, the fans having raised money in the members’ names many times.
For instance, not too long ago, hundreds of fans donated their ticket refunds when BTS’ tour was cancelled, to the COVID-19 efforts in a selfless act unparalleled by any other fandom.
Not to mention that the group’s whole discography seeks to challenge all kinds of social inequality, bring awarness to mental health issues and more, these being only a couple of the many other themes that are inspired by real world problems today which they use in their art.
All in all, this only scratches the surface of their great contribution to changing the world for the better so them joining all the other public figures standing for the Black Lives Matter movement was expected.
As you probably know by now, the outrage both online and all over the world was sparked by the murder of George Floyd by a police officer in broad daylight.
The African-American man was pinned to the ground with a knee on his neck for almost nine minutes and the horrible video has become viral.
