According to an attorney, even though Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reached a custody agreement, their divorce is still far from being finalized. Here’s what the professional had to say during a chat with HollywoodLife!
David T. Pisarra, a family lawyer, based in California explained to the outlet that ‘Brad and Angelina’s custody agreement will not necessarily speed up or even delay the divorce. Although this part of it is finally done, now they still have to deal with the division of assets and spousal support.’
It’s no surprise that the divorce still has a long way to go since it took the former Hollywood couple over two years to even settle their custody situation over their six children.
The attorney also told the site what the steps for them to reach that agreement might have been.
Based on his experience and knowledge of the law, Pisarra assumed that a ‘custody evaluator came up with some extremely strong language that would be interpreted by a judge. Brad and Angelina’s lawyers would agree there is no need to go to trial. That could be a million dollar trial, I could see each of them spending half a million, to a million dollars each on it and still end up with what the evaluator suggested.’
While the news that the exes had managed to reach an agreement before their trial, surfaced on November 30, it was also reported that they had actually signed the deal weeks before it was made public.
While the details of their deal haven’t been revealed to the public, Pisarra assumed they may now get to alternate Holidays with the kids, among other things, which means that Brad might get to spend Christmas with the bunch this year.
