'Bohemian Rhapsody' Gets 7 BAFTA Nominations, As Oscars Draw Near Backlash Towards Bryan Singer Continues
If there is any movie that's a frontrunner for the Oscars it's Bohemian Rhapsody . With seven BAFTA nominations, the movie is on track to being an Oscar contender when the Academy Awards announce their nominees on January 22, 2019. Not everyone is thrilled with the film's success. Though director Bryan Singer hasn't been nominated in the U.S. for best director, yet, he scored a BAFTA nomination in the category.

Bryan Singer wasn't mentioned nor was he on stage when they accepted the best picture award, but he did give a thankful shout-out on his personal Instagram account.
This caused a backlash with those who think Singer's career should follow the path of Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Louis C.K.
The documentary An Open Secret that focused on Hollywood child sexual abuse spoke about the allegations against Bryan Singer in great detail. An Open Secret and its producer Gabe Hoffman have been vocal about Bohemian Rhapsody's critical success.
Bohemian Rhapsody currently has 39 nominations, eight wins, and award season is still underway.
It isn't only Bohemian Rhapsody's praise that is causing a backlash, but Bryan Singer's lucrative career and success as a director.
He currently has 11 projects rumored in the works and at this point, it is unclear whether the backlash will hinder his future career as a director.
