Yara Shahidi is convinced that the peak of her entire career must be her appearance in Drake’s Nice for What music video! During a new interview she gave at the Black-ish For Your Consideration event, she joked: ‘Forget my entire resume. That is all I am putting on there from now on.’
She added that we should ‘Forget that I have been on an Emmy/Golden Globe-nominated show. ‘Nice for What!’ I mean, do not forget that. Please remember that. But, ‘Nice for What!’’
Shahidi also talked about how it felt to be wearing a Harvard hoodie in the music video as she is set to start attending the prestigious University in the fall.
‘It was really exciting. It was a collaborative process. The director, Karena Evans, is just incredible. So young and talented. So it was like, she wanted to see me in my element, so she was like: ‘What if you have your hoodie on?’ And I was like, ‘great!’ Then, I was studying and also jamming to the music. It was a great day.’
How nice! It really sounds like she had an amazing experience with starring in Drake’s video.
Shahidi’s co-star Tracee Ellis Ross also talked about her own appearance in the vid, saying that it felt nice to officially get down to one of Drake’s songs as she’s done it some many times before in her private life.
As for how the cameo came to be, she explained that ‘He called! He called, yeah. It was fun and very exciting. You know, I have made so many of my own Drake vids on Instagram that it was appropriate that we finally do it with an actual director.’
