Millions watched a poor Ariana Grande get gradually uncomfortable as Bishop Charles H. Ellis III hugged and groped her at Aretha Franklin’s funeral.
Bill Clinton was also caught looking at Ariana in a very inappropriate way.
The incident with the bishop took place after she finished singing one Aretha’s biggest hits, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”
Among those, who had to see the horrific moment, was Ariana’s fiancé, Pete Davidson.
The Saturday Night Live star attended the event where thousands had gathered in Detroit, Michigan to bid the Queen of Soul a last goodbye.
A source told Hollywood Life that Pete was horrified as he watched the pastor pressed his fingers against her chest: “What should have been a tribute to the life of Aretha Franklin has become a whole different thing. It’s now an unneeded and unwanted spectacle with what the Pastor did to her and with people joking about what Bill Clinton’s reactions were during her performance. Pete doesn’t really care about the reactions of Bill Clinton, he can joke that off, but he definitely is mad overseeing the pastor making her feel very uncomfortable.”
The person went on to say: “Pete wanted to go up on stage and save her but things happened so fast and he didn’t want to make it more of a scene then it was when everyone was there for Aretha. He was really stuck between a rock and a hard place and he hopes everyone can move on from everything that happened and stick with what the day was about instead of everything else that came from it.”
The religious man did eventually apologize for his actions, telling AP: “It would never be my intention to touch any woman’s breast. … I don’t know I guess I put my arm around her. Maybe I crossed the border, maybe I was too friendly or familiar but again, I apologize. I hug all the female artists and the male artists. Everybody that was up, I shook their hands and hugged them. That’s what we are all about in the church. We are all about love. The last thing I want to do is to be a distraction to this day. This is all about Aretha Franklin.”
Bill has yet to say anything about the fact that he was staring at the petite singer as she performed. The former president seems to like this kind of trouble.
