We have learned that Bill Cosby paid his sexual assault accuser Andrea Constand no less than $3.5 million! In addition to that, it looks like the shamed comedian has managed to avoid persecution for his alleged crime. He is now set to return to court in April when the three counts of aggravated sexual assault re-trial is set to take place.
The 80-year-old risks a maximum sentence of 30 years as every count carries up to ten years behind bars.
It looks like during the last trial the jury did not manage to reach a verdict.
As a result, the man’s legal team is trying to prove that the woman was only after Cosby’s money.
Andrea Constand accused the controversial celebrity of assaulting her back in 2004 while at his house.
In 2006, she settled for $3.5 million after ex-Montgomery County DA Bruce Castor refused to bring any charges, arguing that there were issues with her credibility and evidence.
When Kevin R. Steele, took over the office ten years later, the former prosecutor’s decision or civil settlement did not matter anymore.
He actually not only believed that Bill Cosby had drugged and raped Constand but that he had a pattern of such behavior.
As a result, he opted to bring new criminal charges.
Constand claimed that she saw Cosby as a mentor, but when she stopped by his house, he drugged and took advantage of her.
‘My vision became blurry, and I could hardly speak. I became frozen and paralyzed, and he was touching my breasts and put his hands down my pants. He penetrated my vagina with his fingers before placing my hand on his erect penis,’ the woman revealed in court.
On the other hand, Cosby denies the accusations, claiming their intimacy was consensual and it continued to be so for a while until he failed to get Constand a sportscaster gig at the 2004 Olympics.
