Big Little Lies season 2 trailer has dropped, and fans finally know when the hit HBO show will return. Stars of the series all used social media to release the trailer and let fans know the ladies of Monterey will be back on June 9th, almost two years after it all began.
The first season was an overwhelming success with some fans begging for another one. However, since the series was wrapped up in a nice, tidy bow, just like in the book, some fans are unhappy there is another season, and the story will continue.
Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, and Laura Dern have all returned as the Monetary 5. It was not a natural choice for the stars or HBO executives to continue the story, but in the end, everyone thought there was more to be said.
“I loved the conclusion of that first story. It felt like you could walk away (then) and be really satisfied. And yet, I was thrilled when I heard that this cast was coming back together with this creative team. And, oh, by the way, Meryl Streep is coming on board,” shared HBO boss Bob Greenblatt.
Thanks to author Liane Moriarty, who wrote the first novel, another brilliant story was created. Her fantastic idea brought back David E. Kelley, who wrote each episodic script. The actresses were all on board and of course, signing Streep was the icing on the cake.
Shooting for the show took place last year, with Witherspoon, Dern, and Kravitz posting a slew of behind the scenes photos. Once the photos went viral, fans began to become more intrigued with the upcoming season. Even those who thought the show should not continue, were curious as to how all five women’s lives would go on.
The trailer answers a few questions while bringing up oh so many more. It is dark, drama-filled and proves life has not merely gone on after the murder of Alexander Skarsgard’s, Perry Wright. Life is messy for the Monetary 5. The addition of Streep, as Perry’s mother, means life is going to get a lot worse before it gets better for the women
Big Little Lies season 2 begins in June, with an additional eight episodes. Are you excited for another season or do you think the show should have been one and done?
