The CMA Awards took place on Wednesday, celebrating its honorable 50th anniversary and among other talented singers, on stage stepped Beyonce in an explosive collaboration with Dixie Chicks.
Although the performance was hyped by producers on social media long before the event and it was expected excitedly by most audiences, it seems like some internet users though differently about the whole performance and weirdly enough they decided to troll the performance with hate toward the diva and even racist comments. I’m sorry, racist comments? What years is this? I guess the year when cowards hiding behind a screen are able to say things they probably wouldn’t say in real life without consequences. But that’s just how the internet works and people like that will always be present on the World Wide Web.
“Beyonce performed at the CMAs last night & is on a mission to take country music away from us, hardworking white people!” is one comment that could be read on the official CMA Instagram page. Another went even further.
“Beyonce overrated racist n***er bitch.”
However, we can’t say we are surprised, people say horrible things even when they’re running for President, wink, wink. What was more surprising is the way in which the CMA Awards reacted to this whole racist scandal. They removed all pictures as well as video proof of Beyonce even performing on stage at the event. What in the world? How is that the right solution CMA?
And of course, as soon as news started spreading about the whole removing Beyonce from social media, the photos and videos were back online.
Even the Dixie Chicks felt the need to intervene and Tweeted a link to Beyonce’s ‘Daddy Lessons’ and wrote: “If we all turn this up really loud, together we can drown out the hate.”
However obvious the events were, CMA chose to deny them by stating: “CMA has not erased any mentions of Beyoncé’s performance on the CMA Awards. In advance of the broadcast, CMA removed a 5-second promotional clip from ABC.com and CMA’s Facebook page. The promo was unapproved and CMA removed it prior to the broadcast. Beyoncé’s performance with Dixie Chicks was a highlight of the evening and we are continuing to share the amazing full-length performance clip via our official social channels.”
