According to Brian Littrell – Nick Carter’s compatriot in the 1990’s and early 2000’s pop band, the Backstreet Boys – Nick is the victim of a “fame seeker” and an opportunistic accuser. Littrell believes the allegations made against Nick are without merit.
When TMZ caught Brian at the Los Angeles Airport on Tuesday, they asked him what would happen to the band if he were hit with rape and sexual assault charges.
Currently, prosecutors are considering pressing charges against Nick, but a final decision hasn’t been made if there is sufficient evidence to do so.
As fans of Nick know, Melissa Schuman accused him of raping her in 2003 in an essay on her blog, but she filed a police report only seven months ago.
Depending on which state, it may be too late, as the charges will be far past the statute of limitations for sex crimes, depending on their precise nature. Be that as it may, Brian believes that Nick is innocent, and he and the rest of the band are currently standing by him.
Moreover, Littrell believes it’s a “sign of the times,” probably in reference to the recent #MeToo movement, which started in Hollywood and reverberated throughout the world.
In February of this year, Melissa found her courage from the #MeToo movement and chose to file an official report with the police.
Melissa first published her incriminating blog post in November 2017, right in the middle of the #MeToo media storm, which has seen the fallout of a number of different stars, most notably, Harvey Weinstein, and even lesser-known stars like Chris Hardwick.
However, Hardwick was later reinstated after evidence surfaced that the woman’s allegations weren’t the whole story. Nonetheless, the Daily Mail reported on the 3rd of August that the LA County District Attorney’s Office was considering prosecution against Carter, but the results remain to be seen.
