Nile Rodgers, a friend of the late Avicii, revealed that he was quite worried about the famous 28-year-old DJ prior to his death. Apparently, he had some alcohol issues.
In fact, according to Rodgers, he was drunk the very last time they met.
As you may know already, the Swedish DJ died unexpectedly yesterday, April 20 and now, his friend and music veteran is revealing some unsettling details about the regretted young talent’s drinking problems.
Apparently, the last time they saw each other, three years ago, Avicii was drunk while performing!
‘He had promised me he would stop drinking, and when I saw him, he was drunk that night. I was like, ‘Whoa. Dude. C’mon. What are you doing? What is going on? You said that that was done.’ We did a show, and I was a little upset. I did not even stick around for his performance because it was breaking my heart,’ the man shared.
Nevertheless, Nile was just as shocked as everyone else to learn about Avicii’s death.
‘I’m shocked because I do not know what happened medically, but I can say as a person and as a friend, and even more importantly, as a musician, Tim [Bergling] was one of the greatest, natural melody writers I have ever worked with, and I have worked with some of the most brilliant musicians on the planet.’
Shortly after the terrible news of his passing hit the internet, Nile also took to Twitter to share his condolences: ‘Dear Tim your family have my most heartfelt condolences. You were my little bro. Love always.’
Avicii had retired from performing live back in 2016 due to health problems.
It was rumored that the DJ suffered from a serious case of pancreatitis believed to have been caused by his heavy drinking.
