We are very sad to report that Verne Troyer has passed away at age 49. The famed actor had a lifelong struggle with alcohol addiction.
TMZ reports that earlier this month Verne was admitted to the hospital after authorities received a call that he was drunk and suicidal.
He was being treated for alcohol poisoning and had been put on life support.
His family revealed that he was recently baptized and surrounded by his family before passing away early April 21.
The last time he was in the public eye was right before the incident occurred. Verne had a very active Youtube channel. His last video was posted on March 28 where he told his subscribers what his pet peeves were.
The 49-year-old had a huge following on both Twitter and Youtube.
Troyer was born in Michigan with a form of dwarfism that he used to his advantage. Starting out with small roles in Hollywood he eventually landed a starring spot in “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.”
After the Austin Powers movies, he landed multiple gigs in reality shows.
Throughout his career, Verne struggled with sobriety that caused him to check into rehab multiple times.
Radar Online reports that the first time he suffered from alcohol poisoning, a source close to the actor said: “He’d been abusing his body with his hard partying for quite some time, and, after one final bender, it all caught up with him.”
It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today. Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message everyday. He inspired people around the world with his drive, determination, and attitude. On film & television sets, commercial shoots, at comic-con’s & personal appearances, to his own YouTube videos, he was there to show everyone what he was capable of doing. Even though his stature was small and his parents often wondered if he’d be able to reach up and open doors on his own in his life, he went on to open more doors for himself and others than anyone could have imagined. He also touched more peoples hearts than he will ever know. Verne was also a fighter when it came to his own battles. Over the years he’s struggled and won, struggled and won, struggled and fought some more, but unfortunately this time was too much. During this recent time of adversity he was baptized while surrounded by his family. The family appreciates that they have this time to grieve privately. Depression and Suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. Be kind to one another. And always know, it’s never too late to reach out to someone for help. Verne was allegedly a sex addict too.
He often bragged about his sexual encounters with Playboy models.
In one interview, he told the Enquirer: “I had the best night of my life and lived out most men’s fantasies.”
He’s even had a sex tape leak nearly a decade ago that caused the end of one of his relationships.
It seemed that he was living a carefree lifestyle before his tragic death traveling around the world and eating some of the best food possible.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
