Yesterday it was announced that Verne Troyer sadly passed away surrounded by family after a lifelong struggle with alcohol addiction. There has not been an official cause of death released yet, but the actor was on life support before it happened. Now stars are speaking out about the unfortunate death.
Verne rose to fame with a role in the “Austin Powers” movies. After those. he booked a few minor roles but had a successful run in appearing in multiple reality TV shows.
Troyer’s co-star, Mike Myers, released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter that read: “Verne was the consummate professional and a beacon of positivity for those of us who had the honor of working with him. It is a sad day, but I hope he is in a better place. He will be greatly missed.”
Myers has been out of the spotlight for quite some time until April 5 when he reprised his role as Dr. Evil on “The Tonight Show”.
Another person who is morning the passing of Troyer is DJ Steve Aoki.
The musician was a close friend who had many memories with the actor.
Aoki posted a video of them together on his Instagram along with a caption that read: “My bro @vernetroyer u never cease to amaze me. U will be remembered forever. So grateful to have had u in my life Thank u for making #borntogetwild a video I’ll never forget.”
In another photo, the DJ wrote: “Love u always @vernetroyer we’ll keep your memories alive.”
Steve has suffered the loss of two friends within a day of each other after learning the news that fellow DJ Avicii was found dead on April 20.
These tributes to Verne come after an official statement on his social media read, in part: “It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today. Verne was an extremely caring individual.
He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message every day.”
