One thing that is true about traveling is the decadent food that is often available in many cultures all around the world. Supermodel Ashley Graham is enjoying a much-deserved vacation as she traipses around Europe and is enjoying all the delicacies in Europe.
The beauty updated her Instagram with a video of her enjoying what looked to be a delicious piece of pizza while she smiled with glee.
The model was at an outdoor Parisian cafe near the Louvre museum.
What’s so great about her enjoying her vacation and food so publically is that models so often have this stigma of not eating greasy and carb-y foods like pizza.
This is what sets Graham apart.
As a plus-sized model, she’s come out perpetually to talk about the importance of loving your body, the skin you’re in and understanding that relentlessly dieting and restricting yourself is a poor way to go through life.
Not only is it limiting but it can also be dangerous and promote eating disorders.
It has typically also impacted the way that people who aren’t a size 2 or 4 get treated in the industry and in everyday life.
The emergence of plus-sized models and body positivity has only been mainstream and popular in the past 4-5 years.
For years, women who were a bigger size were shunned and made to feel that they were somehow less than and inferior.
Women like Graham do a great job of reaching out to women of all shapes and sizes to let them know that beauty looks different and it’s a vast, all-encompassing idea that can include everyone.
Graham is currently working on a campaign which uses limited retouching on its photographs. This means that things like cellulite, stretch marks, and other perceived imperfections are not erased.
This allows people to understand the differences between what many bodies look like and what magazines would have us believe.
