Ashley Darby stood firmly by her husband’s side when rumors swirled that he groped a cameraman that was filming them for the new season of “Real Housewives of Potomac.” Now that the scandal is over, the two are opening up about how they reacted to the very serious allegations.
Last month a male employee alerted their supervisor that Michael Darby grabbed his butt while he was shooting scenes for he Bravo show. It was reported that the real estate mogul was arrested and charged but the case was eventually dropped due to a lack of evidence.
By then, the damage was done. The story made headlines everywhere but the couple says that it was completely fabricated.
Michael recalls the incident and clarified that he simply “brushed against” the accuser, apologized, and went about his day. Ashley says that she saw it all happen.
The incident made Ashley think about whether they should return or not to “RHOP.”
“This definitely crossed a line. It didn’t jade me, but it certainly made me think twice about whether or not we made the right decision to do the show. But in the long run, I’m not going to let someone run and ruin Michael and I because they want to make a false allegation against my husband. No one is going to ruin our lives. That just won’t happen.”
The couple went on to reveal more about the cameraman including the fact that he quit the day after it happened.
“We all care who is in our workplace. We have these people come into our homes. This gentleman had worked for the production company for only a month. They hadn’t background checked him. Obviously, as soon as he saw a way to make some money, he went off to tell people. We don’t know that for a fact, but we are finding that out.”
What do you believe happened? Should the couple have quit the show?
