Arrowverse ‘Elseworlds’ Crossover Teases Monitor’s Vital Role And Two Different Supermans

Arrowverse’s “Elseworlds” crossover kicks off this weekend and, for the first time ever, the Monitor will be making his way to the small screens.
LaMonica Garrett will be the first person to step into the Monitor’s shoes in a live action setting, and the actor knows how much the character means to DC fans.
In the comics, the Monitor’s arrival was part of a larger storyline known as Crisis on Infinite Earth. When most fans hear about the Monitor, they immediately think of the Anti-Monitor and Psycho-Pirate, two iconic villains from Crisis.

Although we are still a ways off before Anti-Monitor comes on the scene, Garrett told Entertainment Weekly that the Monitor will play an important role in the upcoming crossover event.
“He’s vital,” Garrett shared. “You’re not going to get overloaded with him, but he comes in early, he comes in hard, and his presence is felt throughout the whole three episodes.”
Garrett did not reveal any details about the storyline, but it sounds like the Monitor will have a significant role.
The “Elseworlds” crossover has Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) swapping bodies after a doctor in Arkham Asylum discovers a way to manipulate reality.
With Oliver, Barry, and Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) headed to Gotham, the crossover will also introduce Ruby Rose as the new Batwoman.
We’ll also get to see two different Superman’s, both played by Tyler Hoechlin. A new promo poster shows Hoechlin wearing the tradition red and blue Superman suit and a black one.

It is not clear what direction the story will take with two Supermans, but fans will recognized the black suit from The Death of Superman storyline.
Meanwhile, although the Anti-Monitor will not be making an appearance, Bob Frazer is set to appear as Psycho-Pirate. Rounding out the new slate of characters is Elizabeth Tulloch, who is playing Lois Lane in the crossover.
The “Elseworlds” event begins on The Flash Sunday night, followed by Arrow on Monday. The crossover ends with Supergirl Tuesday evening.
