Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) has spent that past six seasons of Arrow protecting Star City from criminals, but Season 7 finds him somewhere he never thought he would end up: behind bars. After coming clean about his vigilante identity last season, Amell opened up about Oliver’s new digs and teased Season 7 “feels very bold.”
At the end of Season 6, Oliver confessed that he is Green Arrow and the police promptly took him into custody. While Oliver is in prison, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and his son, William (Jack Moore), are in witness protection to avoid Diaz’s (Kirk Acevedo) wrath.
In an interview with Variety, Amell talked about how Oliver is handling the situation and adapting to prison life. Although Oliver has a lot of enemies that are locked up, he quickly finds a few allies that help him adjust to the new environment.
For fans who think Arrow doesn’t have any more surprises, Amell teased that Season 7 is unlike anything they have done in the past.
“This season feels very different. It feels very bold,” Amell shared. “It’s been very refreshing, and it feels like we’re pushing the envelope this year.”
Oliver, of course, will eventually get out of prison, and Amell talked about how his relationship with Team Arrow will change once he gets out. Not only does Oliver have a better understanding of the criminal psyche, but everyone in Star City knows that he is Green Arrow.
Amell is not sure how Oliver will navigate this new dynamic and he is looking forward to seeing how the rest of Team Arrow feels about the situation.

Apart from Arrow, Amell also gave a little advice to Ruby Rose, who will be appearing as Batwoman on the upcoming Arrowverse crossover. Stephen Amell admitted that he has not talked with Rose in person and hopes that she reaches out to him if she needs any advice on handling the pressure.
“I feel like there’s a great deal of pressure on Ruby. I would just hope that if she needs anything from me, she wouldn’t hesitate to ask.”
Season 7 of Arrow premieres Oct. 16 on The CW.
