Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers joined the long list of celebrities who split up amid the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent quarantine lockdowns. Page Six reported today that the couple, who first got married in 2010, have officially split up.
On Friday, the ex-lovers dropped a statement in which they revealed the unfortunate news. According to Armie and Elizabeth, they spent the last thirteen years as “parents,” “partners,” “soulmates,” and “best friends,” however, they chose to call it off for good.
And while they’ve officially broken up, both parties said their children are their number one priority.
Armie, 33, and Elizabeth, 37, have two kids together including Harper, 5, and Ford, 3. Page Six says the couple first met via a mutual friend who introduced them to each other during an “adventure day.”
The outlet says Elizabeth was dating another man around that time, however, they later broke up and she and Armie started their relationship in 2008. And in 2012, they opened Bird Bakery in San Antonio, Texas.
The last time Armie was in the news was when he was faced with social media backlash for sharing a video of his young child sucking on his toes. E! Online picked up on the social media post which many people weren’t pleased with.
In the video, Elizabeth Chambers said it “wasn’t normal” while their baby sucked on his dad’s toes for what she said was seven minutes. In response to the backlash, Chambers later took to her social media to defend her family and her husband.
Elizabeth said it didn’t actually go on for 7 minutes as she had suggested, but more like five seconds. The star added that the idea of “toe-sucking” is just a running joke in their family.
Armie and Elizabeth aren’t the only celebrity couple to come under fire for the behavior of their children either. Apryl Jones was castigated online for a video of her children dancing on a stripper pole.
