It seems like Ariana Grande needed some time to process the tragedy before even acknowledging it in front of the entire world. The singer finally took to social media to pay tribute to her ex, Mac Miller after his untimely passing at 26.
The star posted a touching pic of Mac on her Instagram account featuring the late rapper sitting down on the ground and looking up at the photographer, presumably Grande.
The post was left without a caption but perhaps the silence that accompanied the picture, especially because Ariana had disabled the comments as well, was even more powerful than anything she could have said in this situation.
Her reaction follows the one of manager Scooter Braun who posted on his own Instagram: ‘Always a kind heart. You’ll be missed, and you are gone way too soon. Way too soon. Rest In Peace Mac.’
‘This was a good man with a great heart. He’ll be missed and is gone way too soon. I’m angry to say RIP buddy,’ he also wrote.
Miller passed away on Friday of a reported drug overdose, and since then, Ariana has been getting a lot of hate on her platform from people blaming her for the rapper’s shocking passing.
The two put an end to their two years long romance back in May, but Ariana had only positive things to say about Mac in her statement at the time.
Still, later on, when a user blamed their breakup for his DUI, Ariana described their relationship as ‘toxic’ due to his drug addiction.
She went on to argue that ‘I am not a babysitter or a mom, and no woman should feel they need to be. I’ve cared for him and tried to support and pray for his sobriety for years (and always will of course), but shaming/blaming women for any man’s inability to keep his s**t together is a major problem.’
