Ariana Grande’s tribute performance at Aretha Franklin’s service was definitely incredible, and no one could contest that. However, it looks like some social media users had a problem with the singer’s clothing choice.
Some made sure to express their disapproval of Ariana’s very short dress that was apparently not respectful enough and made it seem like she was going to the club, not to a funeral.
The sleeveless black mini sat right at the top of her thighs, and some fans complained that even her hair was ‘longer’ than the ensemble.

One person tweeted: ‘Ariana Grande looks like how you look when you come straight to church after being out at the club.’
‘ArianaGrande don’t know the below the knee rule for the pulpit in the black church. Somebody hand her a lap hanky and a choir robe. Bless her heart,’ another also wrote.
‘Good to see Ariana wore a cocktail dress to a funeral. She must’ve kept her long dresses at home. Next, to all of the Aretha albums she doesn’t own,’ another person slammed the singer.
One fan of Aretha used the title of one of her most iconic songs to also diss Ariana.
‘A** all out! No dayum R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!’ they tweeted.
Someone seemed to think that the star wanted to make the performance all about her.
‘Ariana, please. Way to short. It isn’t about you looking all pretty on stage.’
Many other users repeated the same complaint:
Like, I get it, you're Ariana Grande but you're at the FUNERAL FOR THE QUEEN. HAVE SOME CLASS. You know every auntie in there is ready to tell her that her hair is longer than her damn dress. #ArethaHomegoing pic.twitter.com/ima45NwC3m

‘It was disrespectful. It was in bad taste. It was narcissistic. But she probably meant no harm. She just has a lot to learn. Where is her mother? Or father? Or big sister/brother? Aretha was always classy and elegant. Always,’
But not everybody was set on attacking Ariana for her outfit choice.
Someone defended her saying: ‘She looked fine. She is young, a new generation and she honored a great woman. Girls we need to support each other, there is enough out there trying to tear us down. RESPECT starts with us helping and respecting each other! Love one another!’
What do you think about the dress?
