Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt shocked fans last year when they ended their 11-year relationship, but the two don’t seem to be in any hurry to finalize the divorce. While their split drags on, Pitt has laid relatively low; but Jolie has been out promoting her film First They Killed My Father and giving interviews filled with hints about what went wrong in her marriage. Recently the Oscar winner appeared on Award Chatter, The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast, and she revealed that working with Pitt in 2015’s By the Sea was a huge mistake.
As Celeb Dirty Laundry reports, critics – and the few people who saw it – slammed By The Sea, calling it one of the worst movies of that year. The film, which Jolie wrote, directed, and starred in, is the story of a couple whose 14-year marriage is crumbling due to multiple miscarriages. The film follows the couple as they attempt to repair it while staying in a French hotel.

Jolie says that she originally wanted to work with Pitt because that’s how they met – when they filmed 2005’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith – and they worked well together. She was ready for them to take on more serious work, but when they did, she knew something was wrong.
“I wanted us to do some serious work together, and I wanted to see him do that kind of work. So, I thought that it could be a good way for us to communicate. And I think in some ways it was. And in some ways, we learned some things. But there was a heaviness during that situation that carried on,” revealed the mom of six.
She went on to say that making the film gave them a chance to explore something together and they did have the opportunity to communicate, but they didn’t solve certain things. Since then the actress has found herself wondering about what that movie said about their relationship. She questions if it reflected their own dissolving marriage and wonders why she wrote it.
Just like Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s Gigli, and Madonna and Sean Penn’s Shanghai Surprise, Jolie and Pitt’s joint effort was a flop, and the “heaviness” from the set lingered. Then, according to Radar Online, in September 2016, Pitt went into a drunken rage during a plane ride and upset his then-wife and kids – Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Sahara, 12, Shiloh, 11, Knox, 9, Vivienne, 9 – leading Jolie to file for divorce.
Some sources are claiming that the estranged couple will be getting together for the holidays, with the pair attempting to iron out their differences and maybe even reconciling. A Radar source claims that Pitt has changed since the split and is ready to have his family back. But, the decision is ultimately in the hands of Angelina Jolie.
