Angelina Jolie Reveals How Her Kids Are Helping Her Since Her Split From Brad Pitt
Life as a single mom hasn’t been easy for Angelina Jolie, but the actress revealed that her kids have been helping her adjust to her new life as a single mom since her split from Brad Pitt. Jolie appeared on the red carpet with her six children : Maddox, 16; Pax, 13; Zahara, 12; Shiloh, 11; and twins Vivienne and Knox, 9, at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11th for the premiere of her new film First They Killed My Father .
This was the second time in a week that Jolie made an appearance with all of her children. They also were together over Labor Day weekend at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado.
The kids are getting older and becoming more independent, and that has made things easier on Jolie, especially when it comes to things like family travel.
“Packing for me is like a military exercise,” Angelina Jolie told Entertainment Canada . “They’re getting older now, so the older ones help the younger ones, and actually they’re quite efficient.”
Jolie’s sons Pax and Maddox have grown up so much, they were able to help on the set of her new film, which she co-wrote, co-produced, and directed. The actress says it was a “joy” to see her sons working with the crew, and she wants them to have a strong work ethic.
The Maleficent star appeared at the Princess of Wales Theater, where her movie was premiering, in a black Ralph & Russo dress and looked happy to have her family by her side.
Also joining Jolie and her family was political activist Loung Ung, who wrote the memoir First They Killed My Fathe r, on which the film was based. The film’s star Kimhak Mun and Sareum Srey Moch were also a part of Jolie’s night.
The film, which is about Ung’s experience living under the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, was a labor of love for Jolie. She has a strong connection with the country because it is where she adopted her first son, Maddox.
She also has dual citizenship of Cambodia and the United States. First They Killed My Father will be released September 15, 2017, in theaters and on Netflix.
