Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt managed to avoid a custody trial by agreeing to a temporary arrangement, and that means the Jolie-Pitt kids might finally get the chance to enjoy some peace during the holiday season. Now that a new deal is in place, it looks like the Maleficent star is much happier.
This past weekend, cameras caught Jolie and her three youngest children – Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne – enjoying some shopping at The Grove, and the Oscar-winning actress was all smiles during the outing.

Jolie and Pitt’s new custody deal still gives her the majority of the parental time, but it did increase Pitt’s time and visitation with the kids. The order came after weeks of extensive custody evaluations by Dr. Stan Katz, a court-appointed custody evaluator.
The custody agreement isn’t exactly what Jolie wanted, but according to Hollywood Life, she agreed to the terms because her options were limited.
“The custody battle was long and arduous,” says an insider. “And, in the end, Angelina conceded a lot, mainly because she knew she had few options otherwise, and she didn’t want to have to drag the kids into court and make it even more traumatic for them.”
Jolie signed off on the deal to shield her kids from the ugliness of a court battle. Prior to reaching the custody agreement, multiple reports claimed that Jolie wanted full custody of the children. Even though she didn’t get exactly what she wanted, she did get the kids more than 50 percent of the time.
According to an insider, if it would have been up to Jolie, Pitt would have gotten zero court-ordered time with the kids, and all visitation would have been at her discretion.
Insiders say that the actress wanted to save face after being portrayed by the media as the “bad guy” in the divorce. Another source says that the negative media portrayal has definitely affected Jolie’s actions because she does care about how she is perceived.

The former couple still has to hash out the financial aspect of their divorce, and that will most likely take another few months to complete because of all the assets between them. Jolie and Pitt were married for just two years, but they were together for over a decade.
Brad Pitt may have gotten a win in the custody battle, but Jolie is reportedly planning on hitting Pitt hard in the financial department to make up for it. Sources say that the war between Pitt and Angelina Jolie is far from over.
