Are the exes finally getting closer to having a peaceful relationship, two years after their divorce? One insider tells ET that amid their nasty custody war over their six kids, Angelina Jolie decided to reach out to Brad Pitt about improving their co-parenting.
‘Brad and Angelina actually set up a secret meeting at her house. It’s the first time they have truly gotten together to make things work since their group therapy with the children. Brad and Angie’s meeting was a success. They are going to stay with the plan set forth through the courts,’ the source shared with the news outlet.
Apparently, ‘Angelina decided it was time to try to make things work, and Brad was relieved and very ready for the offer. Brad has been dedicated to making peace throughout the process, and now it finally seems like they are at a point where they can create a calmer situation for the kids.’
As fans know already, things got more explosive back in June when the actress was ordered by a judge to allow Brad more time with the kids and repair their relationship for the sake of the young ones.
While the father was able to get more visitation time with them, there was an exception in Maddox, who ‘because of his age and maturity,’ can decide for himself how often or how much time he wants to spend with his dad.
Last month, Jolie created even more conflict between her and the father of her kids by accusing him of not paying ‘meaningful’ child support for almost the entirety of the two years after they divorced.
One day later, Pitt’s lawyer filed his client’s response, saying Brad had paid Jolie and the kids $9 million in total since their split.
Now, ET’s source says that ‘Angelina created a very difficult situation for Brad and the children and she has finally realized her behavior backfired. Angelina loves her kids very much, and it seems like she felt threatened she might lose time with them and, in turn, she went on the attack. Unfortunately, everyone in the family has suffered.’
‘She started to see a change in the kids’ behavior because they missed their dad. The kids’ reaction to the divorce actually helped Angie try a different tact. They both hope to continue to work together for the kids,’ the insider noted, making it very clear that their meeting was a ‘huge step’ towards a harmonious co-parenting relationship.
