We have learned that Andrew Lincoln, who has been playing fan-favorite Rick Grimes on AMC’s The Walking Dead since the very beginning is going to leave the show after season nine. In addition, it seems like he’s only part of a handful of episodes in the upcoming season anyway.
At this point, we do not know how he will be exiting the storyline but considering this is a zombie show and characters are eaten/bitten all the time, we can’t help but assume he’s going to be killed off!
Speaking of ‘walkers’ and dying, Rick Grimes’ son, Carl, played by Chandler Riggs got bitten and died too, leaving behind his dad to deal with his immense grief.
The news of the actor’s exit was first reported by Collider.
In addition, other reports are saying Daryl, played by Norman Reedus is set to become the next lead character.
Everything is pretty unpredictable on The Walking Dead, but that totally means that at least he is safe for a while.
But Lincoln is not the only one leaving the show.
Allegedly, Lauren Cohan is set to only appear in six out of the first eight episodes of season nine as she will be starring in Whiskey Cavalier on ABC.
So will we have to say goodbye to Maggie as well?
As fans certainly know already, the previous season, which ended last month, came to a close with a big win in the fight against Negan.
However, the character was allowed to live as Rick attempted to show him mercy.
But Maggie was definitely not happy about that so will the conflict between the two characters exploded before they exit the show?
We’ll just have to wait and see, but it seems like there is no happy ending for either of them!
