Andie MacDowell, 60, took the fashion world by storm over the weekend when she walked on the floating runway on the Seine for L’Oreal Paris on Sunday, joined by the likes of Ella Fanning, Winnie Harlow, and Eva Longoria.
The event featured fashion designs from French artists like Isabel Marant, Sonia Rykiel, and Giambattista Valli. She said to reporters from Vogue, “I haven’t walked a show in a long time.”
According to the star, she grew up in a tiny town in South Carolina, so she had no knowledge of the life and lifestyle in Paris. She recalled having fittings done by people like Yves Saint Laurent, an event in her life to which she looks back on fondly.
“The city is where I got my education,” the star remarked, adding it’s where she “grew up in so many ways.” She also learned to wear lipstick there. As fans of Andie know, she has an extensive background in the city, in addition to her history with L’Oreal, whom she’s worked with for years.

In fact, she was the face of their beauty products for approximately 30 years. When she first got her contract with the cosmetics company, she found out she was pregnant, coincidentally.
At the time, she was actually fairly scared about it, believing they wouldn’t want to work with her anymore. However, they were “fine with it,” which was quite surprising considering it was 1985, a time when the rights of women were a bit behind yet.
L’Oreal even permitted Andie to do a commercial when she was 8-months pregnant. According to the long-time supermodel and actress, when she saw Jane Fonda and Helen Mirren walk the walk last year, she was instantaneously inspired to do the same.
As a result of her relationship with L’Oreal, she explained, she has come to understand that beauty doesn’t have a time limit. Fashion fans know that currently, the body positivity moment is making waves, emphasizing the importance of showcasing the beauty of people of all ages and sizes.
