Amy Schumer won’t be appearing in any Super Bowl commercials this year. The Trainwreck star confirmed that she refuses to collaborate with the organization because of the NFL star, Colin Kaepernick, who was blacklisted from the league for his choice to kneel during the “Star Spangled Banner.”
Colin kneeled at the national anthem in protest of police brutality, and as a result, the football player lost his job in the NFL.
Amy said she knew it sounded like a “privilege-as* sacrifice,” but it’s all she has to offer. The star said in her Instagram post below that the only way to really affect the NFL was to mess with their advertiser revenue.

Friday thought. I wonder why more white players aren’t kneeling. Once you witness the truly deep inequality and endless racism people of color face in our country, not to mention the police brutality and murders. Why not kneel next to your brothers? Otherwise how are you not complicit? I think it would be cool if @maroon5 backed out of super bowl like @badgalriri Did. I personally told my reps I wouldn’t do a Super Bowl commercial this year. I know it must sound like a privilege ass sacrifice but it’s all i got. Hitting the nfl with the advertisers is the only way to really hurt them. I know opposing the nfl is like opposing the nra. Very tough, but don’t you want to be proud of how you’re living? Stand up for your brothers and sisters of color. And the hottest thing a guy can do is get down on one knee. Not to propose but to reject the treatment of his teammates by this country. Anyone who says its disrespectful to our military please read up on the fact that a lot of veterans are proud of what @kaepernick7 is doing and fully support him. What are your thoughts?
In 2016, Amy and Seth Rogen were in a commercial during the Super Bowl for Bud Light. Amy also called out Maroon 5 for agreeing to perform at the event, stating it would be “cool” if they declined to perform.
Schumer also called out all of the white football players who refused to take a knee during the national anthem. The actress explained that if people don’t kneel like all of their teammates, then they’re complicit.
Another star to refuse to perform at the Super Bowl this year was Rihanna, who declined the organization’s offer to sing at what is quite possibly the most popular event in the United States.
As it was previously reported, Kaepernick faced considerable criticism, and praise, as well as repercussions for refusing to stand up during the national anthem.
Currently, the football player is drawing up a lawsuit to fight against the owners of the NFL. He believes the owners “conspired” to ban him from football, forever. The football organization hasn’t confirmed if Maroon 5 will perform or not, but other reports claim they have all but accepted.
