Alec Baldwin, The Glengarry Glen Ross star, and frequent guest on Saturday Night Live said he is certain that he could win the presidency in 2020 against the incumbent, Donald Trump. The 60-year-old said, “If I ran, I would win.”
During a chat on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on the 11th of June, Monday, the 60-year-old said he would “absolutely win” with “1000%” certainty.
However, Baldwin, the Academy Award-winner, joked to the host that he’s too busy hosting Match Game to run for the office of the chief-in-command.
Baldwin, who frequently has photographs of his children on his Instagram, said that he would miss his kids. Baldwin and his and ex-wife, Kim Basinger, as well as his current wife, Hilaria Baldwin, have five children in total.
He has Ireland, Carmen, Rafael, Leonardo, and Romeo, who are 22, 4, 2, 21 months, and 3 weeks, respectively. During his talk with the legendary host, Baldwin joked that he would be “president” and then “take the whole summer off.”
According to Alec Baldwin, while he can’t actually run for the presidency, and doesn’t even really want to, he hopes that someone else would take his position and do a great job.
The Academy Award-winner explained that there are a lot of common sense decisions to be made in the United States right now. “There are so many things that this country needs to do that are so obvious.”
And while one might have to concede that Baldwin’s self-confidence is impressive, on the other hand, not everyone on social media was happy with his cut-and-dry self-importance.
One user wrote, “the fact that he is so certain that everyone likes him so much to vote for him to be their president is a testament to the average arrogance of Hollywood actors. He needs to get off his high horse and maybe travel through some of the ‘fly-over’ states that they all talk so badly about all of the time.”
