Contrary to all the expectations, maybe Netflix indeed knew what to expect when they signed Adam Sandler for an exclusive deal for 4 movies. Though the public was initially reluctant to the idea of some new Adam Sandler movies, “The Do-Over”, which was launched in May, proved to be the most streamed movie on Netflix both in May and in June. The data was provided by an analytics company called 7Park Data, which issued a report on this.
According to the estimations, around 2 million different users watched the movie in June, only in the US. However, the data is not so reliable, as long as Netflix doesn’t seem too happy to share data on how many users are watching what on their platform. Some fans are actually bothered by this situation, since it would be interesting to see which series and movies are more successful.

Adam Sandler became famous once with the comedies he played in the ’90s, such as “Billy Madison” or “Happy Gilmore”. These two titles have received really bad reviews more than 10 years after their release. But if you thought “The Do-Over” is an exception, you were wrong. On Rotten Tomatoes, this production only received a 5% rating. Despite all this negative reaction, it just seems that people can’t stop watching Adam Sandler productions.
The previous movie Sandler released on Netflix was called “The Ridiculous 6” and it was launched in December. It was also quite a big hit and in January, Ted Sarandon, who works as Chief Content Officer at Netflix, declared that it was the 8th most watched movie in June and the most-watched movie in the entire history of the platform for more than 30 days. So indeed, as the company predicted, it was a good idea to sign up Sandler for some good ol’ comedy movies.
