Nowadays, love him or hate him, Adam Sandler is a big name when it comes to comedy blockbusters so you might not really remember that often that he was once fired from Saturday Night Live! This was before he rose to such fame in Hollywood and now, the actor is opening up about his experience being let go from SNL!
This is not the first time he discussed it, however, and funnily enough, he even mentioned it in his Saturday Night Live monologue back in May when he got to host the comedy show.
While on The Howard Stern Show, Adam talked more about how it felt to be fired from such a long-running and iconic comedy show so early in his career.
He mentioned that now, he realizes what SNL did for him but ‘At the time, I was hurt because I didn’t know what else I was going to do. At the time, it wasn’t Lorne [Michael’s] decision. The NBC head dude, I know he didn’t like our gang.’
Sandler also recalled that his late friend and former co-cast member, who also got fired, Chris Farley, had a similar reaction.
‘I was probably sad into covering the sadness up into being mad and saying, ‘oh f**k you.’ But, I remember when I saw Farley, he said, ‘Me too. They don’t want me either.’ We were both like, ‘F**k this s**t.’ We both got mad together and pretended we weren’t sad and pretended this was for the best.’
Well, as it turns out, it really was for the best!
Adam Sandler went on to be in some of the best-known movies on the planet!
Regardless of the fact that it all turned out great in the end, he still didn’t forget how he was fired so he recalled the whole conversation during the interview.
