Adam Brody is pretty happy about his departure away from his character on The OC. In Crackle’s StartUp, Brody plays Nick Talman, the bad boy of the show, and he couldn’t be happier about it; it’s refreshing.
As fans of the actor know, he played Seth Cohen in The OC back in the early 2000’s. It’s the show that first brought him to light in the Hollywood world. During a chat with reporters At the Tribeca Film Festival, he said it feels great.
According to Brody, playing the “likable” character in a series is surprisingly quite difficult, because the idea is to make the audience like you, and that’s not always easy.
To be “absolved” of such a responsibility is nice for a change; that’s why he likes being the bad boy. Even in the writing stages, the actor explained, he sometimes he asks the writers to make changes because the audience’s perception is important, and the choices of the actor have to be amicable.
Now that he has a totally different role, “It’s like anything is a free game and I don’t have to make excuses.” While he doesn’t necessarily think Nick Talman is “morally bankrupt,” he’s on his way there.
Moreover, Adam stated Seth Cohen wasn’t 100% a good person either, because, the actor stated, he was only “a hair’s breadth away from making an awful, selfish choice.”
As for his personal life, he and his wife, Leighton Meester, just welcomed their daughter into the world three years ago. And ever since then, they’ve been incredibly happy.
Do Adam and his wife ever talk about their respective roles in The OC and Gossip Girl? The OC alum said they actually do; once a year they laugh about it together.
As it was previously reported, Adam and Leighton tied the knot in a private ceremony back in 2014, just one year before she had the baby. In an interview published on the 21st of September, Adam said they were intoxicatingly in love with each other.
