A Mother And Daughter Duo, Serena Williams And Olympia Williams, Enjoyed Reading New Children’s Book, The Adventures Of Qai Qai
Submitting an Instagram video for viewing On Thursday, Williams and her daughter Olympia discussed new children’s book, The Adventures of Qai Qai. The online response to Olympia’s own baby doll with the same name sparked the idea for the book, which recounts the adventures of the doll and the small child who adores her.
Williams demonstrates in the clip that Olympia still thinks the little girl in the book is her. Williams says to her daughter, “Ooh girl; we’re going to do your hair today,” as she begins brushing through the child’s hair.
When Williams proposes they try to emulate the appearance of the book’s protagonist, Olympia responds, “That’s me!” Williams says, “That’s not, no, that’s not you,” Olympia once again objects.
Mom changes the subject by asking, “Tell me about your day; we are at the salon, girl.” Please give me the rundown of your day.
Later, she reads a sentence from the book to Olympia, saying, “Get it, baby girl, work that runway.” Run the runway like it’s your job. Serena yells as Olympia prances around, tripping for a second before recovering her footing.
She quickly returns to her mother, where she sits down next to her and says, “That was cool.” The 40-year-old athlete was a guest on Good Morning America earlier this month to discuss her new children’s book.
When asked how Olympia, the daughter she shares with husband Alexis Ohanian, liked the book, Williams revealed that Olympia is certain that the book is about her rather than her doll Qai Qai.
Olympia is sure that she is the one pictured in the novel. It’s funny because she said she believes I’m the mom and my husband is the dad. It’s hilarious because I keep thinking, “It is not us.” I hope it doesn’t get to her head.
