2017 Golden Globes Predictions – Who are the Best Male Actors?

The Golden Globes are almost here and we are excited to share our predictions for the ‘Best Actor’ category. Who is going to go home with the prestigious award?
Starting with “Best Actor in a Comedy” we can say that the choices in the past two years absolutely deserving – Jeffrey Tambor and then Gael Garcia Bernal took home trophies.
The actors who have the best chance of winning are Nick Nolte and Anthony Anderson. Although both Blackish and Transparent are amazing shows, we believe that, taking into consideration the type of shows the Golden Globes usually go for, Nolte is the more likely winner. He does have more star power as well, but we absolutely love Anderson. Does he have a chance? We need to wait and see?
When we talk about “Best Actor in a Drama” the first name that comes to mind from the nomination list is Bob Odenkirk. There is also a slight chance that Rami Malek will go home with the trophy again for Mr Robot but considering that the second season gave his character a lot less to do, voting towards him would only come mainly from the people who are still catching up with the first season.
The one who should win is Matthew Rhys. As Philip Jennings, Rhys plays every single tone The Americans covers, from goofy 1980s suburban comedy to spy thriller to marital drama to existential, ideological conflict and conspiracy, and he does a great job at it. Both Odenkirk and Rhys are deserving but the latter’s skill is just amazing to us.
Finally, in the category of “Best Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie” the award is probably going to be given to the biggest star – Bryan Cranston playing Lyndon Baines Johnson. Nothing is more of a Golden Globe winner than an “award-winning actor on niche TV series turned movie star playing a conflicted president.”
John Turturro and Riz Ahmed don’t seem to have any chances in front of that. Not even Tom Hiddleston’s role in The Night Manager will be able to beat that perfect Golden Globes winning recipe.
