He did not shy from openly expressing how much he hated the songs he was forced to sing alongside Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson.
What is surprising is the fact that, in his autobiographical book, simply titled ‘Zayn’ the singer seemed to have some good things to say about the band that helped him reach celebrity status:
“I can honestly say I’m proud of a lot of stuff from the One Direction days. I’m not sure people realize that, but I am. I’ve got the memorabilia – the platinum discs we received with every album – all over my house. I have a wall dedicated to displaying them. One Direction was an incredible experience in its own right, and it’s a part of me, an integral part of my history, and I’m never going to deny that aspect of my life.”
That is really a shock for everybody considering the amount of bashing he did towards his former band mates ever since he left One Direction. It’s honestly an 180 degree chance from his usual attitude and we are very curious to know what made him change his mind.
Aside from the heartfelt confession about his experience with One Direction, the now soloist had to say something about his loyal fans as well: “I got to meet amazing fans, and I can never thank all of them enough for the love and support they gave me during the good times, and the bad.”
Maybe it’s the fans that made him stop complaining about his One Direction Days and realize how lucky he was to have the success he had with the band.
