According to the 46-year-old actress, she and Keanu Reeves actually tied the knot in Dracula. As it was previously reported, she and the Point Break actor are currently in the middle of a promotional tour for their upcoming movie together, Destination Wedding.
When probed on her statement, the actress remarked, “No, I swear to God, I think we’re married in real life.” The Stranger Things alum said they actually had a Romanian priest handle their wedding in the 1992 film starring Gary Oldman.
At that time, Keanu and Winona, both, were at the top of their game in the film industry. However, both of them had somewhat of a career decline over the years, with Reeves taking on more independent movies while Winona acted in much smaller productions.
Additionally, Ryder was caught shoplifting in 2001, which tarnished her reputation in Hollywood, followed by a brief hiatus from acting.
Interestingly, both Winona and Keanu have experienced career resurgences in the last decade, with Ryder getting a lead role in the critically acclaimed, Stranger Things, and Keanu in John Wick.
Unfortunately, Reeves, 53, doesn’t actually remember the ceremony as well as she did. When Winona gave him a little bit more information, Keanu said, “Oh my gosh, we’re married.”
Dracula and Destination Wedding aren’t the only times they starred together either, as they also share credits in 2006’s A Scanner Darkly as well as The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee which came out in 2009.
During another interview with People Magazine, Reeves described Winona as a “lovely person” as well as a “talented actress.”
According to Keanu, he got a chance to do 8-minute scenes with her in a number of different movies, which isn’t something that happens a lot in the film industry. Regardless, it’ll be nice to see them on the big screen together for the first time in almost ten years.
